3/17/2019 0 Comments Games For My Mac ComputerYesterday Sony released a new software update for the Playstation 4 that gave users the ability to hide their online status, get notifications when specific friends sign on, among other things. But, probably the coolest feature is the ability to stream PS4 games from your PS4 to your Mac or PC. So let’s take a look on how to do just that. Now before we get started, let’s get a few things straight. You’ll of course need to have a PS4, a Mac/PC, and for best possible performance a 12Mbps upload/download speed. In terms of OS, this will work on Windows 8.1, Windows 10, OS X Yosemite, and OS X El Capitan. If you have these prerequisites then you’re in the clear since the hardware requirements are minimal. If you want to connect your Xbox One console to Xbox Live and don’t have a router, you can connect through your Mac computer. If your Mac is connected to the Internet and has an AirPort Card installed, you can share its Internet connection with your console. Whether or not a Mac is good for gaming depends on which model you are talking. More and more popular PC games have been ported to the Mac, largely. If you want to see the streaming in action and check out the quality, be sure to check out the video below where I walk you through the entire process. So the first thing you need to do is check to see if you’re on the latest software for the PS4. You can do this by going to Settings > System >System Information. If you’re not updated to 3.50, then you’ll need to update to get this feature. Now you’ll want to go onto the Mac/PC that you want to stream on and download the tool from the. Download whichever platform that you’re on (Mac/PC) and just double click to install it. Once install, go ahead and open up the application. Before you try to connect, be sure to go into the preferences if you want to change the resolution (you probably do) to 720p and “high” framerate which is 60 fps. The resolution is obviously is one limitation of streaming, but in a pinch it’s still worth your while. Now all you have to do is sign in and if you’re on the same network, then the app will automatically discover the PS4. If it doesn’t then you can manually pair the computer with the PS4 by hopping on your PS4 and going to Settings > Remote Play > Add Device and enter that unique code in the box on your computer. Once it connects, you’re all set! It should start streaming whatever is on your PS4. While I used it, I noticed no input lag or dropped framerate, the only downside for me was that it was only 720p. Other than that, I think it’d definitely a cool feature to have and to test out! If you have a PS4, give it a shot and let us know how it goes in the comments below. Of course, if you have any questions, ask away! As of, you can now play PlayStation 4 games right on your Mac. It’s not emulation, and no, the Blu-ray discs won’t work in your computer assuming you even still have an optical drive. Oh, and you’ll need a PlayStation 4 console, of course. Sound complicated and/or convoluted? Surprisingly, it’s not: Thanks to the latest system update released for PlayStation 4, it’s now possible to stream games directly from the console to your Mac or PC over an Internet connection. With the Mac installer and a PS4 gamepad, you can tap into the digital and disc-based games on the most popular game console on the market today. And it works pretty well—at least under the most ideal conditions. But if you’ve got a shaky connection any step of the way, its value quickly disintegrates. Still, if you’ve got a PlayStation 4 or are considering a console purchase, it’s well worth knowing about this added Mac benefit for when you’re traveling or simply want to play away from your TV.
